Corto e Fieno

Corto e Fieno is a festival dedicated to rural film making; it first started in 2010 and takes place every year in September in Ameno, Armeno and Masino, on Lake Orta.

The goal of the festival is to investigate the persistance of the rural world in contemporary society, using the ways and forms of the cinema. The purpose is to collect accounts from the rural world and promote the recovery of older tradition in an innovative way, involving young generations in the process.

Corto e Fieno doesn't want to be apocalyptic nor nostalgic: it doesn't miss the bucolic life of old times gone nor does it demonise modern life. Corto e Fieno reflects on the dialectic between rural life and progress, trying to explore both positive and negative sides of it, identifying conflicts and analising possible solutions.

The festival is made up of three sections: two short film contests, Cinema Acerbo - dedicated to middle and high school students - and Frutteto, and a full-length film contest, La Mietitura.
